Letter: Husband’s life likely saved by Team WhidbeyHealth

Editor,

As an island resident since 1964, I’ve had many occasions to receive medical care from WhidbeyHealth Medical Center, previously known as Whidbey General.

Through blood draws, x-rays, bone scans, mammograms, colonoscopies, a heart attack scare and the death of my mother, the entire staff has always been helpful, courteous and very knowledgeable.

This past week, my husband had emergency surgery to remove a gallbladder that was so badly infected, it was in his blood. Had it not been removed as quickly as it was, he most likely would not have survived.

From the emergency room to the day he was discharged, the entire team went beyond what I would call “necessary” to assure both his comfort and well-being, and mine.

Most noticeable was the fact that the team not only treated us in this manner, but each other, as well.

Something that I believe is frequently lacking in today’s workforce. I cannot express totally in words the gratitude for all that the staff did for us.

Thank you, team WhidbeyHealth. Forever grateful.
