Letter: Greene understands the major concerns affecting our community

Letter to the Editor

Editor,

The most influential local Island County position is county commissioner, and, as longtime Whidbey Island residents, we have chosen to endorse Damian Greene as Island County Commissioner District 1. He is the only candidate who received an endorsement from the Island County Republican Party.

Damian has been on the South Whidbey School District board of directors for three terms and has proven to be an effective leader. There is no question that he would manage the county with a responsible business approach. As a lifetime Island County resident, he would push for the best quality of life for our community.

Before graduating from CWU, he was a graduate of Langley High School. As a former business owner, he worked with many islanders in residential and commercial insurance. He is the only candidate to successfully manage a $20-million budget with over 200 employees.

While many people believed Langley Middle School should have been sold, Damian’s pragmatic ideas prevailed, and our historic facility now generates over $300,000 annually as the South Whidbey Community Center.

Damian Greene has a solid understanding of all the major concerns affecting our community. We need to elect a strong local leader like Damian Greene, who has proven he will take a positive stance on local issues that concern the well being of our community.

For an excellent and sustainable future, vote for Damain Greene.
