Letter: Former county commissioner backing Muzzall

Editor,

Since I resigned as an Island County commissioner, I have chosen to stay on the sidelines in local political races.

However, Ron Muzzall’s campaign has motivated me to encourage voters to strongly support him for state senator.

In no way is this support meant to denigrate his opponent, whom I respect.

I have known Ron for 25 years. I came to appreciate his county knowledge as he often testified during the development of the county’s Comprehensive Plan.

His testimony was always on point and delivered in a mild mannered way, recognizing there were many and varied opinions.

Ron’s integrity is is beyond question, and his commitment to Island County, the 10th Legislative District and the state of Washington is unsurpassed.

Ron is a successful businessman, community volunteer and a great family man.

His family has been farming on Whidbey Island for generations, and Ron has adapted his family farm operation to meet current challenges.

He’s proven that agriculture can succeed in Island County.

The voters of the 10th Legislative District have an opportunity to keep an outstanding, principled senator in Olympia for the next four years.

Join me in voting for Ron Muzzall.

Mike Shelton
