Letter: Edit letters for brevity, decency and frequency

Editor,

As a subscriber, I am writing to ask you to please edit your letters to the editor.

I subscribe to the local paper so that I can learn about what is happening in our community. I am growing increasingly dismayed to find the paper publishing letters using vitriolic and inflammatory language, long unedited rants, and airing the views of one citizen with a frequency that borders on making the newspaper his personal mouthpiece.

Please edit letters for brevity and decency in language. We can share our opinions without demonizing others. Please limit letters from any one individual to one per quarter.

I hope the paper could be a publication that helps strengthen our community. Currently, it is alienating me to where I am considering not renewing my subscription.
