Letter: Don’t let ‘woke liberals’ dictate actions, speech

Editor,

This letter is in response to Steve V. Horton’s Oct. 24 letter to the editor regarding a factual commercial on TV.

The truth hurts. But the truth is still the truth. No matter how you want to spin it and revise it, the truth still haunts the Democrats.

Let’s pretend that the commercial you saw is old history, and just look at the current Democrat candidate running for president today.

Just a brief glimpse shall we?

Joe Biden arrived in the Senate in 1973, quickly aligning himself with segregationists and, most believe, KKK members like James O. Eastland, Strom Thurmond and Robert Byrd

As more criminal reform legislation passed, Biden boasted in a speech on the Senate floor, “every major crime bill since 1976 that’s come out of this Congress, every minor crime bill, has had the name of the Democratic senator from the state of Delaware: Joe Biden.”

More minorities and people of color were put in prison for lesser and lesser crimes. Joe Biden and his segregationist friends were able to culminate all this reform in an act that Bill Clinton signed into law in September 1994, at which time the amount of incarcerated minorities exploded.

Now, as Donald Trump and the Republicans have been able to start turning it around and fixing Joe and Bill’s bad policies, Joe now plays down his role overhauling crime laws with segregationist senators in the ’80s and ’90s.

Once again the truth hurts, especially when it does not fit your desired narrative. The Republicans are and always have been the party of anti-slavery, anti-racism, anti-bigotry and anti-hate. You and your friends have been brainwashed by the radicals who believe that lying is OK as long as the ends justify the means.

All I can do is ask people to read and do their own homework, don’t take snippets and sound bites as fact. Make up your own mind rather than accepting the leftist group think. And if you do, I bet you, like hundreds of thousands of others who have walked away from the Democrats, will find the truth.

Maybe not joining the Republican Party, but at least not letting the self-proclaimed “woke” liberals dictate your thoughts, actions and speech.
