Letter: CNN town hall reveals Trump for what he is

Editor,

Donald Trump told a CNN town hall meeting in New Hampshire on Wednesday what he will do if he is elected president in 2024.

He said he will pardon “a large portion” of the Jan. 6 rioters. “They were there with love in their heart — that was unbelievable and it was a beautiful day,” he said of those who broke into, vandalized, and defecated in the people’s house, brutally beating the outnumbered police, stalking members of Congress and threatening to hang Mike Pence on a gallows they built outside.

He said he will end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours, He said we are spending too much money in Ukraine, and called Putin “a smart man.” (I’m guessing Putin will like Trump’s solution better than Zelensky will.)

He urged Republicans to default on the debt instead of raising the limit this year, since “You might as well do it now because you’ll do it later.”

He congratulated himself for ending Roe v. Wade, but hedged his bets, refusing to say whether he would sign a bill to ban all abortions.

He said he was only telling the truth on the “Access Hollywood” tape: For a million years, maybe more, he said, women have allowed famous men to grab them. (I took this to mean that history gave him permission to grab them.)

If Republicans nominate this aging lecher whose fantastical lies are equaled only by his bald-faced plans for destroying our country, the video of this town hall meeting will make a spectacular campaign ad for Biden.
