Letter: Climate change can only be solved if acknowledged

Editor,

I am baffled by Tugg Thomson’s Aug. 17 letter to the editor arguing that climate change is not due to human activity. He refers to the work of Dr. Ian Pilmer, who is not a climate scientist and whose writings on this topic have been widely criticized, and Dr. Dietrick Koellen, who I could not find even after searching several data bases.

Does Mr. Thomson actually find these two questionable sources more believable than the consensus arrived at by the world’s climate scientists that human actions have very negatively impacted the nature on which we depend for our existence?

The very serious global warming changes that confront us are not going to be solved by denying that they exist.
