Letter: ‘Big Lie’ is not a question, it is, in fact, a mistruth

Editor,

The “Big Lie” is not a question, it is a lie.

The election was not stolen. It was fair and honest.

The “leaders” of the GOP do not believe Trump’s lie either, ie … Kevin McCarthy saying Biden is the president.

It is interesting how we have never had this kind of problem until Trump and his not wanting to accept the outcome of the election and concede. He does not want to give up power. That’s what it’s about. That’s all he cares about.

The people have spoken. Trump needs to accept that and move on.

The fact that the party thinks it should show fealty to Trump is beyond reason or understanding.

Ousting Liz Cheney from her leadership role because she dared tell the truth shows how unbalanced the party has become.

Pushing these lies only moves us closer to throwing out democracy and accepting authoritarianism.

Very scary and corrosive.

Think back to Germany in the 1930s. It’s terrifying to think we could be led down that road.

Nonetheless, the GOP seems to go down any crazy rabbit hole rather than accept the truth.

They want to make voting more difficult for minorities, blame anyone who does not look like them for problems with policing and they seem to accept any conspiracy theory that comes along, not checking it out first.

That is not the American way.

Many seemed to accept the lies told by Trump during his four years, but many more want the truth and will not follow his deceptions.

Members of the GOP even try to tell us there was no insurrection on Jan. 6 even though we all watched it on TV. They want us to believe it was a tourist tour.

A tourist tour with beatings and killings? I think not. How stupid do they think the American people are?

Rather than reelect a TV personality, the people put an honest, empathetic person, Joe Biden, in the Oval Office. Look how much good has been accomplished in such a short time.

We should get behind Joe Biden and thank our lucky stars he is there and working for us, not look back to the chaotic, erratic times of Trump.

We, at last, have a sane, competent, knowledgeable president in Biden.
