Of the 14 years I have dedicated to serving Island County, the last two have been in the Island County Coroner’s Office. It was during these last two years I have had the honor and privilege of working with Dr. Robert Bishop, Island County’s current coroner.

Dr. Bishop is amazingly brilliant at what he does especially when it comes to death investigation. I’m amazed daily with his knowledge and competency in the role as coroner. Dr. Bishop is the human encyclopedia of death investigation. Not only is Dr. Bishop very skilled in scene investigations and determining the cause and manner of death but he is also very compassionate when dealing with families during the most emotionally challenging times in their lives.

In all of the 14 years that I’ve worked for the county, I have never met anyone that works harder than Dr. Bishop. He responds to cases not only during the day, but at nights, weekends and holidays. Dr. Bishop takes his duties as coroner very seriously, thoroughly, efficiently, decisively, professionally and frugally (he cares about saving taxpayers’ money!). Dr. Bishop is the only candidate with the full range of experience necessary to perform the duties of coroner.
