It’s not easy being a spouse

I am writing in regards to Ms. Raines’ letter on military discounts. I don’t want to beat a dead horse, but I realize that at some places it can be quite confusing. If the sign states “military discount” you are to assume that goes for all, because some places do offer it to spouses/retirees. But if the sign states “active duty military discount” then it may be required to have your spouse with you.

After being in the service myself and now a spouse I try to ask before I agree to service so that I am not shocked or dismayed when they say that I am not entitled. From both sides of the coin I understand why they would only offer to the active duty member, but I want you to know that being a military spouse is no easy task either. It can be trying and it can be difficult, but to understand, we are not the ones putting our lives on the line.
