Is there simple way to stop gun violence?

My niece and her husband, both from London, visited recently and we watched the local news one evening. Covered was a senseless school shooting, something which happened again last week in Kentucky.

I asked: why don’t these things happen in London?

My niece replied: Guns are illegal in the UK!

Is it really that simple?
