Looking at the October 1, 2025, front page of the Whidbey News-Times had an article about gender neutral bathrooms for two of the public schools of this county. As a former wrestling coach and teacher with the Oak Harbor School district, I have some basic biology and some mental health statements about the decision.

When the egg and sperm unite at conception, you have two outcomes XX or XY. It does not change and can not change no matter what you try to do. Your sex can be determined centuries after your death just by looking at the bone structure and DNA if it is present. You are either a male or female. You cannot change the chromosomes and DNA to make you a different sex.

If a child or person decided to be a dog or horse and tried to act like one and eat like one that person or child would be considered to have a mental disorder. They would be given psychological treatment for their mental disorder. It is way past time we started treating those with gender dysphoria instead of giving in to their psychosis and expecting others to go along with them. People who support this, in my opinion, are in need of psychiatric treatment as well.

Gender neutral or same sex bathrooms in other school districts have resulted in sexual assault and rape cases. In some of them the School Districts have tried to cover it up. Is that what we want here on Whidbey Island?
