‘Dr. Z’ recognized for tireless efforts | Letter

Many islanders have heard of the bigger-than-life personality fondly known as “Dr. Z.” Others have been touched by the kindness and medical expertise of this gentle giant, but how many really know him?

Many islanders have heard of the bigger-than-life personality fondly known as “Dr. Z.” Others have been touched by the kindness and medical expertise of this gentle giant, but how many really know him?

Over the years, we have been privileged to know Paul Zaveruha as a good neighbor, devoted family man, and dedicated citizen. He’s always been there when we’ve needed him and at other times when we’ve just enjoyed his company. You might have seen him using his surgical skills when slicing turkeys at the annual Harvest Fest at the Elks. Paul’s top priorities have always been and continue to be his immediate family, as well as his extended Whidbey Island family. Only those who do not really know “Dr. Z” think otherwise.

As Dr. Zaveruha leaves his position on the hospital board, it seems a fitting time to recognize Paul for his tireless efforts to better the medical facilities and services of Whidbey General Hospital. Thank you, “Dr. Z.” You will be a hard act to follow!
