Have you been in our Oak Harbor post office on a weekend lately and seen the mess left on the floor by patrons who dump their unwanted mail anyplace that seems handy, especially after the trash cans are full to overflowing? Well, we have and we are very ashamed of the mess.
We realize that it is not the responsibility of the postal clerks to come out and pick up thrown away mail; we also know that the custodian does not work on the weekends. We wonder if the postmaster ever walks in on a Saturday or Sunday and sees what the lobby looks like? Maybe they would find enough money from the raised stamp rate to hire an extra weekend custodian.
Why not treat the post office as you do your own home. Or do you?
