There seems to be much confusion over the new burn ban. Apparently there is a misconception that there is absolutely no outdoor burning allowed as of Jan 1, 2007. Not true.

In a nutshell, the new burn ban states that as of Jan. 1, 2007 there is no outdoor burning allowed within the “city limits” of Langley, Coupeville, Oak Harbor, or their “urban growth areas.”

Permits will still be issued (both written and verbal), depending on the size of your fire, in the areas outside of the “urban growth areas.”

If you are not sure if you reside in an urban growth area, you can always call your local city hall.
