Culinary arts effort succeeds

The Oak Harbor High School Culinary Arts Team thanks their community for the overwhelming support recently demonstrated in sending us to compete at the 2007 National ProStart Culinary Invitational in Charlotte, N.C.

We were proud to represent Oak Harbor and place our community among culinary giants like Orlando, New York, and Los Angeles. We placed 12 out of 34 teams of students, the highest Washington state has ever placed, and received several job and scholarship offers.

Under the direction of Mrs. Louise Reuble, Oak Harbor family and consumer science teacher, and mentor chef Scott Fraser, owner and head chef of Fraser’s Gourmet Hideaway, we had a wonderful experience.

Special thanks to: Gordon and Linda McClaine, John and Emily Sikes Hubert and Leolyn Brainard, Dr. Ronald and Vicki Harring, James and Marsha Phay, CDR David S. Weisbrod, USN Rtd. Marshall and Jan Bronson, Dan and Pat McCutcheon, John and VJ Moore, Jim and Mindi Hansen, Willian and Rachel Boudreaux, Margaret C.
