City needs strong mayor like Severns | Letter

Editor,

I recently had the privilege of sitting on an interview committee which met with each mayoral candidate for the City of Oak Harbor. We met with each candidate one at a time and asked the same questions of each candidate, giving them both a very level playing field to share their passion, objectives for the position, qualifications and explain their positions on important issues.

Bob Severns clearly stood out as the candidate with the best vision for our city moving forward. He communicated a clear plan and demonstrated his knowledge of many of the important issues facing our city over the next several years. His positions on economic development, housing issues, infrastructure, fiscal priorities and the relationship with Whidbey Island Naval Air Station were well thought out, researched, clearly delivered and in the best interest of the city.

We have never needed a strong mayor as much as we do right now, and Bob Severns has demonstrated he is the man for the job.

It is time to move Oak Harbor forward. Select Bob Severns as the next mayor of Oak Harbor. Be sure to return your ballot by Nov. 3.
