As I was reading our little town’s newspaper I was disappointed with the events we have to offer here in Oak Harbor.

It is so frustrating reading how our city wastes so much money on sewers doing nothing in the end or paying people to plan things that just never happen. Our town is such a neat little waterside town and it’s a waste that there are not enough events to keep the people here on the weekends.

As it is summer I find myself looking to other towns around us to find activities to keep us busy and sad to know, Anacortes has many events that we will be going to this summer. I know we have Holland Happening, Fourth of July parade and also Race Week, but our town needs other events to look forward to also. We need to keep our community active on the Island instead of leaving every weekend to spend our money in other towns.

To me it just seems such a waste of a great little town like this. I am not sure if it is the chamber of commerce or the city that comes up with activities to do downtown or whomever but, it would be nice to get some of the “old time” customers back to our little town, and maybe people from other towns will want to come too.
