Helen Price Johnson is the best qualified candidate for commissioner that I have seen in the nearly 30 years that I have been living on Whidbey Island. A lifelong resident here, she has a high level of intelligence, personal integrity, commitment to our community and ability to communicate and work with a broad range of community interests. These skills have served South Whidbey well in her years as member and president of the South Whidbey School District Board of Directors. During her participation and leadership, the board progressed to an award-winning group with a healthy financial surplus. Her business outlook and skills have been honed through her years as a successful small business manager in retail and construction settings.

In addition to these impressive qualifications, she will be able to work with fellow Commissioner John Dean to achieve objective representation of all Island County community interests, with open and accessible communication and participation in County decision-making.

I have had the rewarding experience of working closely with Helen as a volunteer in a number of School District management activities. I have seen her effectiveness at close hand.

Clearly, a vote for Helen Price Johnson will help elect a uniquely high-quality commissioner with the ability to help create a more unbiased and open county government.
