Baby situation handled correctly

I was taken aback by Ms. Benz’ letter (News-Times, Sept. 29) and surprised that the paper would print such a nonsensical “current event.”

I think Ms. Benz ought to get a life! If you have ever had to take a baby out to do errands you would find that the logistics can be tricky. Only a certain window of time is open to a mother before feeding may be necessary, a diaper change is required or a slightly fussy baby becomes a screaming unhappy child.

It was thoughtful of the mail employee to recognize the situation and take the action she did. I doubt that anyone else waiting their turn was upset by calling the mother to the front of the line.

It’s been 50 years since I had a baby but I still remember what it was like to wait in line with a cranky baby. How about a little more understanding, Ms. Benz?
