How great it is to step up to the plate to support our troops (“Soroptimists join the fight,” Whidbey News-Times, Sept. 12).

Whether you believe in the war or not is not the point. It just saddens my heart that it takes people and organizations to help only when there is a personal influence. Charge forward in what you can do for those deployed as well as those who are home! Let’s not forget all who are serving!
