Accusations don’t justify killing by a police officer

Editor,

I read Lisa Root’s letter with dismay. I couldn’t believe she was saying that, because George Floyd was “accused” of passing counterfeit money, had served time and used drugs, that somehow made his public murder by a policeman just and right.

I do not believe there are perfect people, at least I’ve never met one. But I do know that judging others, based on media coverage, is problematic.

I do not know the Floyd family, but I am an African American and my heart hurts whenever I hear about another of these executions.

Mr. Floyd’s execution was public which is why it is seared into our brains.
