An act with a message

Three hundred Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Sailors experience the University of California Long Beach InterACT Performance Troupe May 18 at the Skywarrior Theater.

The InterACT performance was provided by the Department of the Navy’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program. The troupe presented complicated, realistic scenes about domestic violence and sexual assault. Rather than being passive observers, audience members were invited to join the troupe on stage. They were given the opportunity to practice bystander intervention and assertive communication strategies, which are key to sexual assault prevention in a safe learning environment.
