Whidbey Coffee gets new facility, wholesale manager

One of Whidbey Island’s homegrown businesses is getting a double shot of energy.

Whidbey Coffee is getting both a new production facility and a director of wholesale, the company reported in a press release.

The new facility is a 12,000-square-foot space, which will help the company keep up with growing demand. In addition, Whidbey Coffee has added a Diedrich CR-70 roaster. That means the company now has access to three roasters and dramatically expanded capacity.

Torsten Gohre joins the coffee company as director of wholesale. Gohre has an impressive record as western region sales director for a Fortune 500 corporation, managing a portfolio of business across 13 states and contributing to sizable growth, the company said.

Gohre’s role at Whidbey Coffee “is to define and implement an optimal structure for wholesale operations and oversee all client relationships, including day-to-day service, education and new accounts,” the press release says.

He will lead business development and account management strategy, with a focus on expanding into new market segments, such as lodging, airports, colleges and universities, business and industry and healthcare facilities.

“Our investment in both Tor and the new facility reflects our commitment to our customers and quality excellence,” said Dan Ollis, president and founder of Whidbey Coffee.
