Oral surgeon sets sights on Oak Harbor

Longtime dentist C. Brian Spriggs announces the May opening of Whidbey Island Oral, Maxillofacial and Implant Surgery in Oak Harbor.

Spriggs’ services include the surgical extraction of teeth, placement of dental implants, treatment of oral infections and abnormalities, and facial reconstruction due to trauma.

He completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, one of the nation’s leading hospitals in the field of complex procedures.

Prior to entering the specialized surgical training, Spriggs honed his skills for 20 years as a general dentist.

“My years of experience as a general dentist, combined with the latest oral surgery training, have enabled me to work closely with referring dentists and medical doctors,” he said. “I look forward to being a team member in the area’s health care community.”

Both Spriggs and his wife, Marla, share a deep love for the Puget Sound and San Juan Islands.

“We have always had a deep appreciation for the people and lifestyle of the area as we have repeatedly vacationed here,” the oral surgeon said. “After recognizing that the area needed a full-time surgeon, we decided to relocate here to work and be active participants in the community. This is a great opportunity to have a very personalized practice.”

After visiting with local general dentists, Spriggs determined that many people end up traveling from the islands to obtain oral surgery services.

“By locating here, I can coordinate care with the referring doctors and Whidbey General Hospital, and be immediately available for emergency care,” he said. “The response of local dentists to my coming here has been overwhelming.”

Whidbey Oral, Maxillofacial and Implant Surgery will officially open in Oak Harbor in mid-May. Patient appointments can be scheduled starting May 1, and additional information can be obtained by calling 360-679-ORAL (6725).
