Clinton Chamber of Commerce gets new president

The former president stepped down to focus on her own business.

The former vice president of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce is now the president.

Janae Cameron accepted the responsibility of the role around six weeks ago during an unprecedented time in history.

“It’s kind of an exciting time to come in and help and lead,” Cameron said.

The previous president, Stephanie Cook, stepped down to focus on her small business.

Cameron said she admires the work Cook began doing in helping the Clinton businesses when COVID started.

“I want to be a really approachable person,” Cameron said. “I want business owners to feel like they can come and talk.”

Cameron is a business owner herself. She owns Madrona Supply Co. and has been a member of the Clinton Chamber since 2014.

Cameron became vice president of the chamber in 2016.

Perhaps one of the biggest changes she has helped implement so far has been the addition of two board members—a treasurer Alisha Walsh and a secretary Christina Swan.

Beth Woolley is the new vice president.

Cameron has some ideas in mind already for the holiday season, including events like a “shop hop” on a smaller scale.

“We had some really successful December events in the past, so we don’t want to totally lose that because of COVID,” she said.

Cameron added that at times it can seem like an uphill battle, but she is determined to help support the small businesses, whether they are seeking promotion, networking or other things.

“I feel inspired because Clinton is such a supportive community,” she said.

“I think the businesses really support each other.”
