Beverly Joyce Potter: July 1, 1930 – April 23, 2019

Beverly Joyce Potter, 88, went home to the Lord on April 23, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 1, 1930 to Edward and Eunice Weidenbach of Oak Harbor, Wash.

Beverly grew up on Whidbey Island and attended Western Washington University where she studied English and later taught in the Oak Harbor School District for 24 years.

Her passion was promoting reading for youth.

Beverly was very active in the Oak Harbor community; she was an avid golfer, a charter member of Whidbey Island Country Club, member of the Polly Harpole Hospital Guild, member of the Island County Historical Society, active member of the League of Women Voters of Whidbey Island, participant in the Island County Democrats, and a member of Alpha Delta Kappa. Beverly was also a world traveler and devoted fan of UW Husky football.

She moved to Alabama in 2014 to be closer to her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Jill Miller (Steven), four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Beverly was preceded in death by her two daughters, Linda Palmer and Doris Potts.
