Christian School students do well

Eight of the students who graduated from Oak Harbor High School this year shared a special bond; they also graduated from Oak Harbor Christian School together, and they all finished in the top 50 students in the class of 2003.

Jon Jansen and Chloe Veltkamp shared top honors as number one in their class of 350, with perfect grade point averages. Kim Boone was number eight in the class, while Dan Van Dyke, Denton Dickson, Crystal Lambert, Tom Moser and Tyler Eelkema were among the graduates in the top 50 category.

The stellar students were among those honored at the Oak Harbor Rotary Club Honors Banquet in May.

Clark Donnell, Oak Harbor Christian School administrator, was pleased with the success rate, considering 11 students from the private school graduated this year.

“With only 11 going on, to have eight in the top 50 speaks well for the school and the preparation they got here,” he said.

Donnell also credited the high school administration for helping the students to make a smooth transition into public schools.
