Yes, Mike Van Voorst, it isn’t 1940 anymore. I remember Dorothy Neil too and her newsy commentaries in the Whidbey News-Times. It was refreshing to read that the biggest news of the day wasn’t about how a state patrolman made an unsafe u-turn on State Highway 20 causing an accident, and how a witness’s account was omitted from the report.

Editor,

Yes, Mike Van Voorst, it isn’t 1940 anymore. I remember Dorothy Neil too and her newsy commentaries in the Whidbey News-Times. It was refreshing to read that the biggest news of the day wasn’t about how a state patrolman made an unsafe u-turn on State Highway 20 causing an accident, and how a witness’s account was omitted from the report.

That witness was even directed to leave the scene.

It was more about who just came back from vacation wearing a new dress she bought at a bargain price somewhere.

Those were the days, my friend. We hoped they’d never end.
