Marie Bennett

Longtime Whidbey Island resident Marie Bennett passed away March 18, 2007, in Auburn due to natural causes. She was 92.

Marie was born Dec. 10, 1914 in Sedro-Woolley. She lived in multiple locations along both U.S. coasts during World War II while her husband George was in the Coast Guard. They eventually settled in Tacoma and opened a flower nursery. They built their Ledgewood home in 1965. Marie lived there until 2002.

Marie is survived by her sister Phyllis, brother Don, daughter Dorothy, four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 2 p.m., March 30, at St. James Episcopal Church in Kent. Contributions can be made to St. Augustine’s In-the-Woods Episcopal Church in Freeland.
