Robert Neupert

Robert H. Neupert, 83, died at his home in Oak Harbor May 22, 2004, following a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Seattle to Paul F.W. and Ernestine D. (Sterling) Neupert.

Bob was raised in Seattle and was a graduate of Franklin High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the South Seas and also Dutch Harbor, Alaska, with the Seabees.

Mr. Neupert returned to Seattle following the war and began his apprenticeship with Local 32 of the Pipefitters Union. He completed his four-year apprenticeship and moved on to journeyman. He eventually purchased part of Rautman Plumbing and Heating from his father. After many years as a pipefitter, he left Seattle and moved to Oak Harbor, where he was employed as a planner and estimator for Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. He retired from Civil Service in 1984.

Bob loved Whidbey Island and was most proud of his home with the view of Dugualla Bay, Saratoga Passage, the Swinomish Slough and Mount Baker. He enjoyed cooking, German beer and his dog Josie.

Mr. Neupert is survived by his wife Ruby at the family home, Oak Harbor; by one son, Robert Paul Neupert and wife Collette of Marysville; by two daughters, Nancy Joyce Tozer of Bellevue and Marilyn Diane “Mimi” Cogan and husband, Patrick of Redmond; and by three step-children, Sandra Lee McMahan and husband Kevin of Little Rock, Ark.; Michelle Anne Strehlo and husband Stephen of Bothell, and Richard Harley noble and wife Susan of Concrete.

Four grandchildren, Andrea Lynne Neupert of Mukilteo; Darren Charles Tozer of Renton, and Tiffany and Chanel Cogan, both of Redmond, and five step-grandchildren, William Carlton of Anchorage, Alaska; Trayve of Louisiana; Jaimie Marie O’Reiley of Snohomish, Heather Maria Strehlo of Seattle and Stephen Cascedean Strehlo of Renton, and four great-great grandchildren, Tabatha of Lousiana, Kegan and Kiara Carlton of Anchorage, Alaska, and Fiona Isabelle O’Reiley of Snohomish, also survive.

Private family services for Robert Neupert were held at Acacia Memorial Park, Bothell with Rev. Fred Renfroe officiating. Arrangements by Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
