Ian G. Northern

Ian G. Northern died Sept. 22, 2005 at his home in Oak Harbor after a long illness. He was born in Epswich, Suffolk, England on July 15, 1930, the younger son of Harry and Edith (Hallas) Northern. He was raised in Peterborough, England and graduated from The King’s School there.

Ian served in the Royal Air Force in England and the Mediterranean. After graduation from university at The London School of Economics, he emigrated to Canada in 1953 and to the United States in 1959.

He enjoyed a career as an executive in the energy field for over 30 years, working with Mobil Sun Oil Companies.

Ian is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane, his two sons Chris and his family of Littleton, Colo., and Jonathan, also of Littleton and his daughter Laura and her family of San Antonio, Texas and by four grandchildren.

At Ian’s request there will be no services.

Friends are invited to an informal gathering at the family home on Wednesday, Sept. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
