Daniel M. Kurtz, born Oct. 22, 1950 Flint, Mich., died Jan. 7, 2008, after a prolonged and lengthy illness in Coupeville. Dan formerly lived in Palmer, Alaska., and Fenton, Mich. Dan graduated from Michigan Technological University with a degree in Mining Engineering and spent most of the rest of his life doing what he loved: prospecting the wilds of Alaska. Dan was active in many ministries in Alaska, Washington and recently the Philippines.
Dan is survived by his father and mother, Donald R. and Mary E. Kurtz of Tucson, Ariz., and Fenton, Mich.; five brothers and sisters, David Kurtz and wife Jan of Fenton, Jan Rinck and husband Paul of Miami, Kelly Kurtz of Fenton, Page Kurtz and husband David Barber of Brunswick, Maine, and Mary Ann Kurtz and husband Jonathon Olsberg of London, England; 17 nieces and nephews; many cousins and many wonderful friends in Palmer, Alaska, Coupeville, and Fenton. He was preceded in death by grandparents Clayton Kurtz, Jennie Kurtz, Ellen Kurtz, Michael Myers and Melvina Myers.
Memorial service at 15 E. Squire Rd. Coupeville, will be held Sunday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. Arrangement entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel.
