Thelma Elizabeth Long

Thelma Elizabeth Long, 79, longtime resident of Oak Harbor, died Jan. 20, 2006 at Regency on Whidbey Harbor Care.

Mrs. Long was born in Buffalo, Mont., on July 20, 1926, to Frank Fuller and Helen (McClaughlin) Fuller. She was raised in Stanford, Mont., in a large family of seven brothers and one sister. She graduated from high school in Stanford, and went on to attend and graduate from the Great Falls Academy of Beauty Culture. In 1955, Thelma married Charles C. Long II. They moved to Oak Harbor in 1963.

She had been a member of the Whidbey Presbyterian Church and Beta Sigma Phi. She was also an accomplished painter and enjoyed being a homemaker.

Thelma is survived by her two sons, Charles Curtis Long III and wife Rebecca of New York City, N.Y. and Mark Wesley Long of Anchorage; one granddaughter, Isabel Long of New York City; one sister, Mazzie Radcliffe of Great Falls; and one brother, Lee Fuller of Orem, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles on Nov. 6, 1995, and by six brothers.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. at Burley Funeral Chapel, Pastor David Templin officiating. Memorials may be made to the Delta Tau Relay for Life Team benefiting Cancer research, c/o Patti Olson, 1282 N.E. Taftson St., Oak Harbor, WA 98277.
