Janet Nisbet Cheadle

Janet Nisbet Cheadle, 89, of Oak Harbor, Washington, died peacefully after a long illness, on Aug. 16.
Janet was born on Nov. 22, 1916 in Chicago Ill., the fourth of five children, to Scottish immigrants. Janet grew up in Chicago, skipping two grades and graduating early from high school. She moved to Seattle in 1933 and lived with her aunt until she married her husband, Don.
Janet and Don raised four children in West Seattle, and these children now live in Clinton, New Orleans, Bothell, and Oklahoma City. As a pastor’s wife, Janet followed Don to many different places including Dallas, Texas, Milwaukee, Oregon, Dusty, Washington and Eugene, Oregon. They have been retired in Oak Harbor for 19 years.
Janet has always been an avid reader, a dabbler in painting, an assistant librarian, a secretary, a Sunday School teacher, and a community volunteer.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her husband is the Reverend Don Cheadle, with whom she had just celebrated their 65th year of marriage. She is also survived by her children, Marilyn Stansbury, Robert Cheadle, John Cheadle and Donald (Stu) Cheadle, by her 10 grandchildren, and her 14 great grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006 at 1:00 pm at the Bible Baptist Church (360 675-8311), 1701 Harns Rd., Oak Harbor, Washington. Remembrances may be made to Careage of Whidbey, 311 N.E. 3rd St., Coupeville, WA 98239
