Mildred L. Lindh

Mildred “Millie” Lucille Lindh, 86, of Oak Harbor, died Dec. 29, 2007, at Fidalgo Care Center in Anacortes. She was born Oct. 24, 1921, in Renton, the daughter of Alvin and Rena (Schmidt) DeWinter. Millie was employed as an executive secretary for Sears in Seattle, and later at Photo and Sound in Seattle before her retirement.

Always drawn to the outdoors, Millie was an avid golfer, camper, boater, fisherwoman, softball pitcher, and even played a great game of touch football. Millie married Robert Lindh and they shared 65 years of marriage. They built two homes together and Millie always applied her considerable green thumb to surrounding them with lush gardens.

The couple traveled the world, adventuring as far as Europe, the former Soviet Union, Australia, and New Zealand. For years, Millie served as a Camp Fire group leader and as member of United Methodist Church in Oak Harbor where she served as altar guild and supported countless charitable activities. Millie has always been a beloved family treasure and will be remembered as such by all.

Millie is survived by her husband, Robert, of Oak Harbor; daughters, C. Kristine (Kris) Back and husband, Norm Back of Livermore, Calif., R. Kathleen (Katy) Lindh-Wilson and husband Pat of Kirkland; grandson, LCDR David Back, USN and wife, Angie and their children, Bella and Sami and granddaughter, Leah Tornow and husband, Chris Tornow.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan, 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Oak Harbor with Pastor Dave Lura officiating.
