Jeanette Ottinger

Jeanette V. Ottinger, 92, passed away at her home in Oak Harbor in Summerhill Assisted Living Community Jan. 8, 2004. Mrs. Ottinger was born March 18, 1911, in Brockton, Mass., to Asa B. and Sarah (Robinson) Eaton.

Mrs. Ottinger lived in Nova Scotia, Canada, the early part of her life and in 1932, returned to Massachusetts. March 1, 1933, she married Earl L. Ottinger, who was serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. Mr. Ottinger retired from the Coast Guard in 1950 and the family moved to Sedro-Woolley for a time and then on to Stanwood. In 1972, the Ottingers moved to Oak Harbor.

Jeanette Ottinger was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Second Ward. She was also a member of The Retired Officers Wives Club and the Oak Harbor Senior Center.

Mrs. Ottinger is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Nathalie and Nolan Kohls of Fullerton, Calif., and one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Diane Ottinger of Flower Mound, Texas. One brother John Eaton of Langley, B.C., five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Her husband Earl preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be held Monday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m., at Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Bishop Cecil Talbot officiating. Visitation will be at Burley Funeral Chapel Saturday, Jan. 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. to noon.
