Doral Joanne Shelton went to be with the Lord, and her husband, Ennis Eugene Shelton, on March 10, 2011. Doral was born in Pittsburgh on March 31, 1931, to Ralph Frederick and Dorothy Louise Stalker.
Doral’s family moved to Utah where she graduated from high school and fell in love with a young soldier. That soldier went to war in Korea in 1950 and returned safely. Doral and Enis Shelton were married on Oct. 6, 1953. In 1953, they ventured to the Pacific Northwest and to Oak Harbor, through the encouragement of great friends, Bob and Jean Henderson, who owned the Holly Farm on North Whidbey.
Doral was a very outgoing and strong-minded person. She enjoyed fishing, camping and was a terrific bowler. She bowled in the women’s league from 1960 to 1992. Doral was a sales associate at Pioneer Department Store, Coast to Coast Hardware and the Navy Exchange, until her retirement in 1986.
Doral was installed in the Oak Leaf Rebekah Lodge on April 18, 1979. She served as Reporter, Inside Guardian, Warden, Conductor, Musician, Chaplain, Vice Guard, Noble Grand and Junior Past Noble Grand and Trustee. She also served as Right Support to Noble Grand. She was also a member of the Order of Odd Fellows for many years.
Doral is survived by four sons: Ralph and his wife Jan and their children, Adrienne and Laura; Roy and Colleen and their son Douglas; Reed and Judy and their children, Justin and Maddison; and Terry and Dianne and their children David, Kastille and Danielle.
Private family graveside services will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery, with the Oak Leaf Rebekah Lodge officiating. Friends and family are encouraged to share memories and condolences at www.wallinfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Wallin Funeral Home, Oak Harbor.
