Celia Laverne Sweeden

Celia Laverne Sweeden, age 96, passed away peacefully at Regency Harbor Care on Feb. 10, 2010. She was born in White Lake, S.D., Aug. 21, 1913, the fifth of nine children. She married Donald Fraser and they had two children, Robert and Joyce. She later married Lewis Rex Sweeden and they enjoyed 40 years together. Celia was always very active in her church and could always be found in the kitchen at church conventions. She loved to cook and six generations of her family were the lucky recipients of her cooking. She is survived by her son, Robert Fraser and wife Donna of Oak Harbor; daughter Joyce Keyes of San Diego, Calif.; five grandchildren, Michael Fraser of Oak Harbor; Lori Stewart of Oak Harbor; Robert Fraser of Lynden; Linda Keyes Scott of San Diego, Calif. and Stephen Keyes, deceased; eleven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Heller of Long Beach, Calif., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at the Oak Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park in San Jose, Calif. Local arrangements are with the assistance of Whidbey Memorial Funeral and Cremation Service, 746 NE Midway Blvd., Oak Harbor.
