Pastor Marvin Christian Knutzen, 74, passed away on April 10, 2012, in Bellingham. He was born May 2, 1937 in Bellingham to Christian Hansen Knutzen and Inga (Broadland) Knutzen.

Marvin graduated from Bellingham High School in 1955. From there he attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Seattle and Pacific Lutheran University, graduating in 1961. He then attended Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN, for four years.

Marvin was pastor at churches in Renton, Puyallup, Tacoma, Clinton, and most recently at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bellingham.

A history buff, Marvin traveled extensively in Europe. He also enjoyed painting and leading a Bible study at Lakeway Mobile Estates.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Morrie Knutzen.

Marvin is survived by his sister Marjorie Holmes, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Lutherwood Bible Camp, 1185 Roy Road, Bellingham, WA, 98229.

The family wishes to thank Whatcom Hospice and Shuksan Healthcare Center for their exceptional care of Marvin.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 15, at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2539 Cornwall Avenue in Bellingham.
