Richard W. Gibson

Richard W. Gibson, 77, passed away on April 19, 2008 from cancer. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Yolande; his son Jeffrey L. Cline; daughter Debra Mikesell and her husband, Jeff Mikesell; twin sons Vick and Rick Gibson; his brother, Gary Gibson and nephew, Bob Gibson. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Gibson and his nephew, Bill Gibson, Jr.
Richard sailed aboard a Victory Ship at the age of 16. He was a member of the U.S. Marines from 1948 to 1951 and received three Purple Hearts, the Silver Star and several other medals during the Korean War at the Chosin Reservoir with H-3-1. He was also a member of the Chosin Few, Korea.
Richard worked at the McCord Air Force Base as a fireman for 10 years. He also spent 17 years at Kwajalein, Marshall Islands in Computer Operations doing missile testing. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, recent Post 7392 and Northwest Sportsman Club.
There will be no memorial service. Plans for a wake are incomplete at this time. Ashes will be buried at sea.
