Edwin Max Spromberg

Edwin Max Spromberg, born June 30, 1921 in Steptoe, Wash., died May 1, 2006 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Ethyl, in 2001. He is survived by son Jess Spromberg of Bremerton; two brothers, Charles Spromberg of Everett, brother Max Spromberg of Granite Falls; a sister, Maxine of Burlington.
He served in the Navy in World War II and was on board the Augusta when Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt met. He flew in PBY’s in World War II in the Caribbean, and was a founding member of the PBY Club of Oak Harbor. He also served aboard the USS Midway in the early ’60s. He retired from the Navy and then from Civil Service at Ault Field in Oak Harbor.
He was a former mayor of Coupeville in the early ’70s. There will be a memorial at Concordia Lutheran Church, 590 N. Oak Harbor St., at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 3.
