Gordon Spillman

Gordon Spillman, 80, of Oak Harbor, died Jan. 21, 2007, at his home in Oak Harbor. He was born in Seattle on Sept. 8, 1926, and grew up in the Ballard district where he attended high school. At the very young age of 15, Gordon joined the Merchant Marines and served in the Pacific during WWII. He completed a 19-year military carreer serving in the Air Force.
After the military he started his own drywall business in Tacoma and married Linda Steffen. They later moved to the Tri-Cities area, during the late 70s, he worked for the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. After a peaceful divorce, Gordon moved to Coupeville where he lived for five years before settling down in Oak Harbor, where he spent the last 15 years of his life.
He is survived by his daughters Shelly Pomeroy of Oak Harbor, Letha Solomon of Richland, and Connie Bergan of Colville; granddaughters Keri Lynn, Talena; grandsons Michael, Joshua; daughter-in-law Mercy Spillman of Oak Harbor; granddaughter Karen Tarrant; and four great-grandchildren, Powell Jr., Piāikekai, Keiana and Azariah.
He was preceded in death by both parents, and a son Robert Spillman of Oak Harbon in 2004.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor.
