Robert (Bud) Wilkinson passed away Dec. 20, 2015, at Whidbey General Hospital with his family by his side.

Bud was born on the family farm Dec. 12, 1937, in Port Orchard. He was raised in North Seattle and in the summer went with his family to Fairbanks, Alaska, where they mined gold for three generations.

Bud met his future wife, Judy Daniels, in 1965 and they were married March 5, 1966. They were blessed with three children, Wendy (Doug) Lacy of Bothell, Fred (Cindy Taketa) Wilkinson of Shoreline and Brenda Wilkinson of Everett.

Bud worked for Darigold for 35 years, retiring in 1996. He worked in Seattle, Issaquah, Moses Lake and Yakima. Bud and

Judy moved to Oak Harbor in 2001 where they met wonderful friends.

He was very involved with Master Gardeners and was the first person people would call if they needed help. He was a friend to all who know him, and he never knew a stranger.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Madalin Wilkinson.

Besides his wife and three children, he is survived by his brother, Fred Wilkinson of Fairbanks; his sister, Barbara McKinlay of Auburn; and his biggest pride and joy, his grandchildren, Brevin, Kristin, Jenna and Nathan Lacy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Contributions can be made in his name to Island County Master Gardeners or the charity of your choice.

A family service was held Dec. 30 at the Burley Funeral Home and a celebration of life will he held at a later date.

Bud will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
