Lawrence Eidsmore

Lawrence “Larry” Eidsmore, 84, was born May 27, 1920, in Duluth Minn., and passed on peacefully June 11, 2004, at Life Care Center, Sedro-Woolley.

Larry grew up in New York City. During World War II he served as a nose gunner on a B-24 bomber. While on a mission over Czechoslovakia, he was shot down, taken to a prisoner of war camp in Germany where he remained until the war’s end. He also served in the Army during the Korean War. Later at Oklahoma State University, Larry graduated with a degree in architecture. During his career he lived in Oklahoma, Nebraska, Illinois, Maryland and Washington state. While he was living in Oak Harbor he participated in the Island Chapter of the American Ex-Prisoners of War, the Kiwanis Club, Sea Scouts, Senior Center and the Old time Fiddlers. His favorite activity, beside billiards, was to entertain with his harmonica, especially at nursing homes. He was a member of the Christian Science Society in Oak Harbor.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 58 years Teresa, his two sons, Valdon (Faith) of Palm Coast, Fla., and Alan (Alison) of Havre de Grace, Md., four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and brother, Robert. Interment and services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Va., at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
