Ricardo F. Martinez, of Oak Harbor, devoted father, brother and friend, 47, died Nov. 9, 2003, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a short, sudden illness. He was born Sept. 22, 1956, in Bay Laguna, Philippines, to Remigio and Luningning Martinez. Rick came to Oak Harbor in 1986, where he has resided ever since.

Rick was preceded into the loving arms of our Father by his father Remigio, his sister Yolanda Flores and his brother Rolando. He is survived by his mother, Luningning, brother Renato and sister Rosemarie, still living in the Philippines; four children, Monique Bobiles in the Philippines, Frederick and Carol, both of Oak Harbor and Arlee Soriono of Biloxi, Miss. Also residing in the Oak Harbor area are brother Rudolfo Martinez and sisters Rosa Lamson, Rosario Go of Anacortes, Rosalina Talusig of Burlington and Rebecca Vinluan of Tracy, Calif. He is also survived by his fiancee Jocelyn Reyes and her children. Rick has 21 nieces and nephews and four grandchildren with two on the way.

Viewing will be at Burley Funeral Chapel Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 4 until 6 p.m., followed by the Vigil Service until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church Friday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m., with Rev. Ronald Belisle as Celebrant. Cremation will follow with family inurnment to take place in The Philippines. Arrangements and cremation under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
