John J. Bradshaw

John Bradshaw, 73, died Sept. 20 at his home in Oak Harbor. He was born in Los Angeles on Jan. 7, 1933.

John spent 20 years of his life serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, entering from Portland, Ore. and retiring from Seattle. He then had a second career with Prudential-Bache in Bellevue where he stayed for another 20 years before finally retiring.

In 1983 John met and married Lois Ellison while working in Bellevue. He loved to travel and especially camp. The couple went from a small camper to a much larger motor home over the years.

In 1990 John and Lois moved to Whidbey Island.

John is survived by his wife of nearly 23 years at their home in Oak Harbor; children from his first marriage, David, Mark, Kate, Dianna, Carrie and Chris; two step-daughters, Diana Benecke with husband Ray of Renton, and Lynne Lang with husband Pat of Anacortes; a sister, Mary Corah of Portland; 19 grandchildren, one great grandchild, six step-grandchildren, 14 step-great grandchildren and one step-great great grandchild.

Services including military honors will be held for John at Tahoma National Cemetery on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 1:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Hospice. Arrangements were entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
