Bruce Munro Mackintosh

Bruce Munro Mackintosh, 49, died suddenly on Oct. 31, 2006 at Providence Medical Center, Everett. He was born June 20, 1957 in Carmel, Calif., to John C. and Shirley G. (Thorne) Mackintosh.

Bruce spent the first six years of his life in the Los Angeles area and the next 38 in the San Francisco Bay area. He graduated from Menlo Atherton High School. Bruce worked as a bartender for over 25 years in the bay area. He met the love of his life Karla and they were married in San Jose on Oct. 25, 1994.

In 2001, Bruce and Karla purchased the Honey Bear shop in Coupeville. They moved to Coupeville and were enjoying island living to the fullest. Bruce was an avid reader and also enjoyed fishing.

Bruce is survived by his wife Karla at the family home in Coupeville and by his mother Shirley Mackintosh of Oak Harbor. His father and one brother preceded him in death. His Uncle Bruce Mackintosh and wife Jeanie of Pasco, Wash., and Cousin Roland Mackintosh and wife Jennifer of Kennewick also survive him.

Bruce requested no formal funeral services be conducted. Cremation was held with private family inurnment to follow. A memorial service is planned for a later date.

In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Friends of the Coupeville Library c/o Whidbey Island Bank. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
