Michael Nye Quistorf

Michael Quistorf was born Sept. 29, 1943 in Oakland, Calif. His father Howard was in the Navy and they traveled to many places in his childhood including Panama and Alabama. Howard built a home and retired in Oak Harbor. Mike’s mother, Suzanne, was a school teacher here.

Michael graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1961 and went on to a year of college. He married Eleanor Young and had a son and daughter during that marriage. In 1963 Mike joined the U.S. Army and spent tours of duty in both Greenland and Vietnam.

When Mike returned home from the Army he worked as a car salesman for many years. In 1980 Mike married Linda Hayes and together they had and raised three lovely girls.

Mike started his own backhoe business, which he has successfully run for over 20 years, working with many in the construction trades. He was always known as a hard worker and depended on by many. He was also responsible for the well system at the Harris Custer Estates for many years.

Mike was a member of AA and was proud to have been clean and sober for over 20 years. He had many loves, but at the top of the list was his family, followed by his motorcycle and his work. He liked everyone and will be missed by many.

Mike is survived by Linda Quistorf, his wife of 26 years, along with daughter Kim with significant other Justin Wise, daughter Elizabeth with significant other Tom Crawford, daughter Michelle with significant other Keith Hall, son Michael Boswell with wife Lynn and daughter Christine Schumacher with husband John. He is also survived by grandchildren Michael and Maiya Boswell and Christian, Elijah and Hannah Schumacher.

Mike also leaves his father Howard Quistorf and his companion Lorraine of Yuma, Arizona, along with sister Laura Anderson and husband Kevin of Indianapolis and brother John of Oak Harbor, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Suzanne and his sister Diane. We will miss Mike.
