Joan Kay Davis

Joan Kay Davis passed away April 14, 2008, following a brief illness while visiting her daughters in the Southwest.
She was born Sept. 29, 1941, to Hap and Lorraine Wells in Salem, Ore. After graduation from high school, Joan began a career in electronics that started at Tectonics, a company in the Portland area. In 1964, she married Robert L. Davis and moved to Oak Harbor, where he was stationed by the Navy. They continued to make their home in Oak harbor throughout their life together,
Joan worked for many years for MELCO, an Oak Harbor electronics company, and in the school lunch program for the Oak Harbor School District. She enjoyed doing many forms of needlework and decorative painting. She also very much enjoyed birds and animals. Many happy hours of her life were spent with her beloved pets.
Joan is survived by her husband, Robert “Bud” Davis; daughters Vikki Rogen and Michelle Boehm; sisters Rita Grippen and Gail Story; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station Chapel on Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m. A reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall following the service. In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Fund.
